Roamly is an iPhone and Android app. You add your trip, see who else is around, connect if you both want to, then meet in public. Here’s the flow.

Add your trip
Choose a city and your dates. Roamly uses that to find people who’ll be there at the same time.

See who’s around
You’ll see travellers nearby with shared interests and a similar travel style — backpacker, explorer, nightlife, and so on.

Send a connect request
If someone looks like a good fit, ask to connect. They can accept or ignore. Nothing happens until they say yes.

Chat
Talk in the app first. Get a sense of each other. You don’t share exact locations.

Meet in public
Join a meetup that’s already happening, or create one — dinner, a walk, a beach. Always a public place, and you can leave any time.

Keep going
Spend an afternoon together or a few days. Share what you did so the next person travelling alone can find it too.
